Through my work I am able to sometimes get my hands on retired hardware. I sift through the pieces and get functioning Laptops and Desktops. The hardware is usually around 5 years old and has some cosmetic ware and tear signs and there is no guarantee that they will last for another 5.
A hobby of mine is to see how much of my home lab I can run on 1 PC and one of these retired computers has been serving me quite well since (insert date of PC acquisition)
